Aviation industry project unveiling ceremony held in Ordos

The unveiling ceremony of Trunk Liner College and Genghis Khan Airlines Training Center, a key aviation industry project representing the sincere cooperation among and jointly promoted by Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), the government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Genghis Khan Airlines, was held in Ordos on July 25th, 2019. This is a specific measure to implement the spirits of the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on "supporting the healthy and steady development of China-made commercial aircraft", and an important symbol to start the process of aviation talent localization.

Mr. Tan Wangeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of COMAC, Mr. Cheng Fubo, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of COMAC, Mr. Siqin Bilige, Deputy Secretary of CPC Ordos Municipal Committee and Mayor of Ordos, Mr. Jing Guotan and Mr. Bai Yimeng, Vice Presidents of Genghis Khan Airlines, and Mdm Sun Hui, Vice President of China Airline Pilots' Association (CHALPA), attended the ceremony.

The government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region signed a Framework Strategic Cooperation Agreement with COMAC on October 15th, 2018, and cooperation intentions were reached on the joint construction of aviation training center and Trunk Liner College. After more than 9 months of intense preparations, the Trunk Liner College settled in the Ordos Institute of Technology, and three undergraduate majors, i.e. Electronic Information Science and Technology (electronic system and airborne equipment direction), Mechanical Engineering (machine direction), Transportation (airport field operation management direction and air traffic control direction) have begun enrolling students. Genghis Khan Airlines Training Center would carry out training for special aviation personnel, and continuously meet the needs of talents for the growth of fleet size.

Civil aviation industry is a comprehensive and high-tech industry integrating manufacturing industry and service industry. The establishment of the Trunk Liner College and Genghis Khan Airlines Training Center will form a teaching method of focusing on both theory and practice, and a talent cultivation mode of integrating industry, education and research; overcome the development shortcomings of lacking special aviation talents such as China-made commercial aircraft pilots and aircraft maintenance personnel; realize the localization of aviation talents; continuously deliver high-level talents for China-made aircraft industry; and provide strong talent support for the sustainable development of Genghis Khan Airlines.

Inner Mongolia is a valuable test field for the marketization of ARJ21 aircraft. The successful operation of the ARJ21 aircraft in Inner Mongolia will explore a sustainable and replicable profit mode for regional aviation operations, play a demonstration role in opening up other regional aviation markets, and lay a good foundation for the market-oriented operation of C919 aircraft.

Genghis Khan Airlines will set sail soon on July 26th, 2019, which will be another milestone in the history of civil aviation in Inner Mongolia, and a new phase in the marketization of China-made civil aircraft. In the future, Genghis Khan Airlines will work with the government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and COMAC to promote the settlement of the projects such as a maintenance base and a flight test center; explore a new path for the commercialization of China-made aircraft that integrating manufacturing industry and service industry; "live up to the good times, and build wings by national brands" to promote the high-quality economic development of Inner Mongolia; "remain true to the original aspiration, and remember the mission" to make contributions to the realization of the Chinese Dream and the Trunk Liner Dream.
