Boeing Zhoushan 737 Completion and Delivery Center delivers first aircraft

Boeing 737 Completion and Delivery Center, a joint plant of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) and The Boeing Company (Boeing) in Zhoushan, delivered its first aircraft to Air China on December 15th, 2018.

Mr. Yuan Jiajun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Governor of Zhejiang Province, Mr. Feng Fei, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province, Mr. He Dongfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of COMAC, Mr. Zhao Yuerang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of COMAC, Mr. Kevin McAllister, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Mr. Marc Allen, President of Boeing International, Mr. Sean Stein, U.S. Consul General in Shanghai, Mr. Ma Chongxian, Executive Vice President of Air China, Mr. Zhou Xinmin, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of COMAC, and officers of relevant national ministries and commissions, CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Zhejiang provincial government and provincial departments attended the delivery ceremony.

Mr. Zhao Yuerang congratulated Boeing Zhoushan 737 Completion and Delivery Center on the successful delivery of the first 737MAX aircraft. He said that during the past 40 years since reform and opening up, China had developed into the world's second largest economy. Global civil aircraft industry would come to an important strategic development period in the coming 20 years. COMAC, like Boeing, had been committed to providing safer, cost-effective, environment-friendly and comfortable means of transportation for airlines. Both sides had laid a good cooperative foundation in the past, and the successful cooperation at this time would surely bring more fruitful results.

Mr. Kevin McAllister expressed that the successful delivery of the first 737MAX aircraft by Boeing Zhoushan 737 Completion and Delivery Center had marked another major milestone in Boeing's in-depth partnership with Chinese airlines and aviation manufacturers over the past 40 years. Boeing had been proud of its long-term cooperation with each side and the trust from each side.

It is reported that the 737 MAX 8 aircraft delivered to Air China was assembled in Renton, Washington, USA. It arrived in Zhoushan on November 9th, 2018 and received the completion works in Zhoushan. Boeing Zhoushan 737 Completion and Delivery Center is the first such Boeing facility outside the United States, which has a land area of more than 40 hectares and will cover the entire 737 MAX family.

 

The delivery ceremony started on December 15th, 2018.
