System Safety Design and Verification System for Large Commercial Aircraft of COMAC won the first place in the Gold Award for Central Enterprise Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project recently.

 

Recently, the result of the 3rd "CASIC Cup" Central Enterprise Youth Innovation Award was announced. The project of System Safety Design and Verification System for Large Commercial Aircraft of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) stood out from 4,394 central enterprise youth innovation projects, won the gold award, and ranked first in all the projects. This project is developed by the youth innovation team of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety and Product Support Department of Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute (SADRI), and will attend the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expo (IIEE) to be held on December 9th, 2017 and the roadshow at the National Conference Center in Beijing as a winning project of the Gold Award for the 3rd "CASIC Cup" Central Enterprise Youth Innovation Award.

Safety is the first consideration in the development of civil aircraft and the prerequisite for aircraft to pass the airworthiness examination, enter the market and gain public trust. The development of civil aircraft in China started late, and there was no in-depth study on the system safety design and verification of civil aircraft. As the airborne systems has become increasingly complex and sophisticated, the difficulty of system safety related work of large commercial aircraft has increased, and it is more challenging for the young company COMAC. The project of System Safety Design and Verification System for Large Commercial Aircraft has started from the perspective of engineering application, and a 500,000-word monograph has been completed and published according to the research achievements, which has great academic significance and application value. These achievements have filled the gap in China, have great practical significance, are at the domestic leading level, and are close to the international advanced level.

The achievements of the project have independent intellectual property rights. One monograph was published and more than 10 papers were released based on this project. The research achievements have been applied to the program and specialty core capacity building of C919 aircraft and subsequent models of COMAC; promoted the gearing of safety concept and related design verification technology to international standards; and implemented safety policy in the whole life cycle of aircraft research and development, flight test and verification, and delivery for operation. The indirect economic and social benefits generated by this project are huge and immeasurable for large commercial aircraft programs. At the same time, this project can significantly improve the safety level of civil aircraft of COMAC, and enhance the confidence of the airlines, airworthiness authorities and customers. The project has made outstanding contribution to the development success, marketing success and commercial success of the civil aircraft programs.

It is reported that in order to further stimulate the innovation passion and explore the creation potential of the youth, unite and lead the youth to actively participate in the implementation of the strategy of driving development by innovation in central enterprises and promote the work practice of Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Central Enterprise Working Committee of Communist Youth League of China and Central Enterprise Youth Federation have jointly carried out the selection activity of the 3rd "CASIC Cup" Central Enterprise Youth Innovation Award according to the overall work deployment of the Party Committee of the State-owned Asset Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) and in compliance with the general arrangement of the Central Enterprise Youth League "Innovative Development, Youth Responsibility" themed practice activity to select the innovation projects generated in central enterprise youth innovation and benefit-making activity since January 1st, 2011. Winners of 10 gold awards, 20 silver awards and 30 bronze awards were finally selected after project application, project preliminary assessment, project collection, project preliminary review, and result publicity, and the winning projects are announced in China Youth Daily.
