3rd Class of COMAC and GE GCAT Program opened

Global Civil Aviation Talent (GCAT) Program Graduation & Induction Ceremony was held in Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) on October 30th, 2017. Mr. Zhao Yuerang, Vice President of COMAC, Mr. Xiang Weiming, President of GE Aviation Group in the Greater China Region, and Mr. Alan Jones, President and CEO of Aviage Systems, attended the ceremony.

Mr. Zhao Yuerang expressed that COMAC and GE had been long-term strategic partners, and cooperated closely in the fields of aircraft development and talent training. He hoped that the platform of GCAT Program would further promote the exchanges and cooperation between both sides, promote the exchanges and communication between the staffs, especially the young engineers, of both sides, and build a bridge and link of cooperation. As for the third training class, Mr. Zhao Yuerang pointed out that the trainees should cherish the opportunity, devote themselves to training, work hard at cutting-edge aviation knowledge, acquire real abilities, and master superior skills; should learn from teachers and other trainees in accordance with the requirements of curriculum, training and rotary post training, combine study with thinking, and learn to meet practical needs; should quickly transform the role and actively integrate into the new environment in job rotation; and should work together to help each other, successfully accomplish various tasks, and rapidly grow into key talents urgently needed by the development of the global civil aircraft industry in the training.

Mr. Xiang Weiming expressed that GCAT Program is an important witness of the long-term cooperation between GE and COMAC, and hoped that the new period of training can cultivate more young backbones for China's civil aircraft industry, and make GCAT Program a well-respected cooperation model in the industry. He also hoped that GE and COMAC could cooperate in the development of more aircraft types and jointly create a better future for China's civil aircraft industry.

GCAT Program is jointly proposed by COMAC and GE, aiming to promote the growth of high potential technical talents of both sides and to cultivate internationalized civil aircraft technical and management talents through cooperative cultivation. The first class of GCAT Program was launched by both sides in 2013. The second class of GCAT Program was provided in 2015 based on the experience of the first class and 16 trainees were selected. At present, all the training sessions have been completed successfully, and the trainees have been greatly promoted in professional skills, leadership ability and global vision. The GCAT Program has reserved young technology leaders for both sides.

The successful practice of the two classes of GCAT Program was highly evaluated by GE and COMAC,so both sides had decided to launch the third class this year. In the early stage, 16 trainees have been selected through joint interview, including 8 from GE and 8 from COMAC. All the trainees are young backbones of engineering department, with an average age of 31.
